COlabs x Akumal Arts Festival - 2022 Recap
Since 2018, The Akumal Arts Festival has welcomed hundreds of world class visual artists to the pueblo of Akumal to paint murals, offer workshops, and engage with the local community and each other. Participants come from all over the world; starting with the local community and including greater Mexico and around the globe. Over 500 murals have been painted by an international crew of generous, talented artists since the festival's inception.
As Akumal is a rapidly developing area and considered a ground zero site for ecological disaster, visiting activist artists are encouraged to explore themes of sustainability in their works, along with a reverence for the rich indigenous cultural heritage of the Riviera Maya.
