‘Our House is on Fire’ - slab city, ca / collaboration with icy + sot
Since 2018, The Akumal Arts Festival has welcomed hundreds of world class visual artists to the pueblo of Akumal to paint murals, offer workshops, and engage with the local community and each other. Over 500 murals have been painted by an international crew of generous, talented artists since the festival's inception.
‘Our House is on Fire,’ by Iranian duo Icy and Sot, is an installation inspired by climate activist Greta Thunberg's work and the worldwide environmental movement she has started.
Art in public spaces makes people stop and take notice. In the last year the world has been given over 100 beautiful reasons to look at Flint. We’re thankful for all that Flint has shared with us and look forward to many more years of collaboration. Happy Valentine’s Day to a city we love!
