East Jesus sits in a subdivision of Slab City, part of 640 acres of abandoned government land otherwise known as “the last free place on Earth.” The community is marked by its use of discarded materials to form sprawling sculptures and eccentric art installations. East Jesus was one of the first organizations COlabs “COlabed” with in its infancy: a beached Greyhound Bus was painted by Christina Angelina and Ease One.
East Jesus is dedicated to growing their art community through the strict use of recyclable materials. They provide a getaway for all those in the arts and sciences, be it musicians, writers, artists, scientists or survivalists. They are currently working toward the goal of making a completely off-grid, self sustainable community.
